Breakfast Month: Day Seven

sundays = decent sized breakfast. maccas hash brown, hotcakes & coffee.
banana, honey & cinnamon muffin + tealeaves china rose tea.
poached eggs, feta, tomato chutney, sundried tomatoes, baby spinach, roma tomatoes, mushrooms on vienna bread.
strawberry & nutella crepes. way impressed with myself, way yummy. crepes > pancakes, amirite?

Breakfast Movie of the Day

i've never liked or 'got' audrey hepburn & avoid her movies as much as i can. she's particularly hard to watch in this one. bleurgh. like many things, i only kept watching because of the cat.

Breakfast Month: Day Six

vagina-mite on sourdough rye (YEAH REAL MATURE DEEDEE GOOD ONE OK).
 tea & apple danish.
feta & chive baked egg w/ sourdough rye toast. baked eggs are an amazing world that i've been totally missing out on.
vienna coffee at the pancake parlour. $5.90 worth of foul nonsense.
cheese & potato pancake with mushroom sauce. i always end up with the biggest food regret after going to the pancake parlour, but i was in the city for dinner & it was the most breakfasty thing i could think of. overpriced, bland, poorly cooked nonsense, every single farkin' time. i wanted to eat that salad so bad, but instead put it in the 'not breakfast' pile :(

CONFESSIONS OF A CHEAT: when i got home, i got hammered on apple schnapps. in my defence, plenty of people drink alcohol for breakfast & i'd just watched hunter s. thompson do just that in the doco i watched (admittedly, his drink of choice is a little tougher than mine...). also, it turned out to be a really good way to clock daylight savings. i passed out early & woke up early the next morning, completely avoiding feeling robbed of an hour. worth it.

Breakfast Movie of the Day

kyle, this was truly awful & i expect nothing less from the movies you select for me.

Breakfast Month: Day Five

vegemite toast, sourdough rye,
 cappuccino, chocolate & blueberry pastries.
poached egg, parmesan, feta, roma tomatoes, baby spinach, mushrooms, veggie sausage, facon, baked beans, sourdough rye.
banana, strawberry & nutella crepes (holy shit).
ovaltine, vegemite toast.

Breakfast Movie of the Day

another movie without breakfast in the title, but it contains a famous, excellent breakfast-related scene that anyone who has raced against time to catch the maccas breakfast menu can relate to.

Breakfast Month: Day Four

vegemite toast, sourdough rye.
 cappuccino, raisin toast.
poached eggs on sourdough rye w/ parmesan, tomato chutney & pesto.
eggs florentine. so many eggs, so much bread :/
 hash browns w/ tomato chutney.
 watermelon.

Breakfast Movie of the Day

the opening scene of this doco shows hunter s. thompson rocking up to an appearance at the viper room in a convertible driven by johnny depp, next to john cusack, a blow up doll & a big shaggy dog toy. good enough for me. he does indeed have breakfast in this movie, which is a decent glass of chivas regal, while a stack of room service toast & jams sit untouched nearby...maybe i can fit some alcohol in this month after all.

Breakfast Month: Day Three

i was hatin' on breakfast month a little, but then i had this on the way to work & everything was fine.
unsurprisingly, this doesn't taste very good after spending two hours in a stuffy backpack.
my first orange since i severed my index finger tendon chopping one a few months ago. nearly repeated the good times while slicing this, due to nerves.
jarrah coffee & blueberry danish from safeway.
 BANANA.
aldi brand coco balls. i wanted sickly sweet, these did not deliver.
hash brown fever, w/ tomato chutney.
two croissants w/ ricotta, roma tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, roasted capsicum, parmesan cheese & baby spinach.

Breakfast Movie of the Day

it doesn't have breakfast in title, but it does feature the greatest movie scene about breakfast of all time. if i ever have too much money, i'm gonna pay someone to make this machine for me.

Breakfast Month: Day Two

mocha tuesday at work! some good shit.
banana & choc chip muffin w/ tea leaves granny's apple pie tea.
canned spaghetti on burgen rye w/ craploads of cracked pepper.
coffee in a can.
this was every bit as boss as it looks. 2 fried eggs, baked beans, hash brown, parmesan sourdough, mushrooms, baby spinach, roma tomatoes, facon, veggie sausage. banana & strawberry smoothie made by k-man. stuffed.

Breakfast Movie of the Day

Dead & Breakfast (2004)

woeful, dumb horror-ish musical-ish zombie-ish thing. further thumbs down for no one eating breakfast in the entire movie (brains don't count). best part of watching this was all the "OH IT'S THAT GUY!" moments. such as "OH IT'S WHATSHISFACE FROM SIX FEET UNDER/THE DAD FROM SUBURGATORY!", "OH IT'S OSWALD FROM DREW CAREY!", "OH IT'S KENDRA FROM BUFFY!", "NOT ONE, BUT TWO CARRADINES!".

Breakfast Month: Day One

so it seems i can't go more than a few months without placing some kind of stupid restriction on my day-to-day life. i've been digging on breakfast as a 'good life choice' lately, so decided that i would eat nothing but breakfast foods for the month of october. COOL IDEA, BRO. i will be documenting each day's food intake here, so i can look back on this in a few years & say "oh yeah, that was a good meal" and "oooh, that made me a bit nauseous, i remember". i'll also be watching movies with breakfast in the title & just yay-ing breakfast in general. it's pretty great. i have some minor concerns (the lack of lollies in my life, too much bread for my bread-hatin' body & my cholesterol reading shooting up with the amount of eggs i'll be eating), but nothing that can't be solved with fruit loops. on to day one!
___________________________________________________________________

my usual weekday breakfast, one slice of vegemite toast, eaten while walking to work. burgen digestive balance rye is pretty yum. i'm sure there's better rye breads out there, i love dark rye, but this is the darkest one i can find in the supermarkets i frequent.
coffee when i got to work. i have spent much of this year building up my tolerance to coffee, which was a very poor life decision indeed. my teeth & nervous system may now hate me, but my wallet is doing ok, because i'm too much of a tightarse to buy real coffee everyday. this is one of those jarrah sachets. coles had little packs of these containing 5 varieties for $1 a couple of months ago & i bought about 20. as i said, tightarse. not sick of them yet.
poached eggs on burgen rye w/ parmesan, baby spinach & tomato chutney. poached eggs are a new obsession for me, having cooked them for the first time a couple of months ago. the can is canned coffee, which i tried for the first time in japan last year. genius. our favourite korean grocery in lonsdale st had 30 can slabs of these for $18 recently.
morning sun peach & pecan muesli. the worst muesli i've ever had in my life. the sultanas were so minuscule that i not only had trouble tasting them, but could barely even detect that they were in my mouth (that's what she said?). i had a few bites before fobbing the rest off to kyle, my human garbage disposal, forever taking one for the team.
tea leaves cafe latte tea & homemade banana & choc chip muffin. thank fark for muffins & danishes counting as 'breakfast', i can't live without the whole tea + cake thing.
canned spaghetti & mozzarella cheese on a slice of burgen rye. stacks of cracked pepper, whatta condiment!
another banana & choc chip muffin & a pot of T2 ruby red rosehip tea. i drink entire pots of tea before i go to bed, then wonder why i need to get up & grandma pee a million times during the night.
bunch of red seedless grapes.
Breakfast Movie of the Day

i got 20 mins into this before deciding i couldn't hack the overwhelming irishness any longer. and the voice cillian murphy puts on, nup, nup, nup, no deal. 2/10 hash browns.
